Teenagers

Being a teenager is not easy. There is stress from school, after-school activities, peer pressure, and family relationships. A busy schedule can lead teens to skip breakfast, buy lunch from vending machines, or grab whatever is in the refrigerator for dinner. These behaviors can often lead to weight gain and unbalanced diets.

Weight dissatisfaction and body image concerns are also common among teenagers. This can lead to excessive dieting, health-compromising weight loss, and eating disorders.

Emily works with adolescents who are overweight, have eating disorders, or have other food-related medical conditions. She uses a nonjudgmental and collaborative approach when working with teens. Emily works to develop individual eating plans and helps manage unhealthy eating tendencies. She understands that adolescents have the freedom to make their own food choices. Therefore, she encourages teens to make nutritious food choices.
